Turpentine bath

Turpentine bath is one of the methods of balneological therapy, based on the use of warm baths with fresh water, to which is added bile turpentine, prepared specially. Such water treatments irritate (in a good way) human skin, as the active substance contains many terpene essential oils. As a result, blood circulation improves and the body's internal resources are activated.

Contraindications to turpentine baths

Despite such a long list of indications, there are situations when turpentine baths are harmful. Yes, they can effectively cope with chronic fatigue, reduced efficiency (mental and physical), relieve sleep problems, but some groups of patients still should not undergo such therapy. These groups include people who have been diagnosed with:

  • cirrhosis;
  • open tuberculosis;
  • turpentine intolerance.

The last point is especially important because few people know exactly how their bodies will react to turpentine bath emulsions for the first time. We in the sanatorium-resort center Svityaz practice this approach, as we aim exclusively at safe and effective treatment of our guests.

HOW TO TAKE TURPENTINE BATH

First, there are 3 different types of turpentine, which correspond to patients with different blood pressure:

  1. Yellow. Designed for people with hypertension. Effectively dilates blood vessels, promotes resorption of scars and adhesions.
  2. White. It is prescribed to patients with low blood pressure. The action of this substance is aimed at increasing blood flow in small vessels and "starting" the processes of "nutrition" of tissues at the cellular level.
  3. Mixed. Designed for people with normal blood pressure. Especially useful for excess weight has a relaxing effect.

Secondly, turpentine baths are divided into local (local) and general. And the methods of their conduct differ from each other. Let's understand exactly how.

Full immersion in the bath (total):

  1. Shake the substance in the vial thoroughly.
  2. Measured on the order of 20-50 ml. solution.
  3. To this solution is added 3 liters of hot clean water heated to 55 degrees.
  4. The bath is filled with 37-40-degree water.
  5. The solution is added to it and mixed thoroughly (until completely dissolved).
  6. Water treatments are performed for 10-20 minutes.
  7. After the manipulation, the patient is sent to a warm place for 1.5-2 hours, pre-wrapped in a towel.

To get the most out of turpentine baths, it is necessary to monitor the water temperature throughout the therapy session - it should always be within 37-40 degrees. Otherwise, the active substances of turpentine will not be able to provide a full effect. Therefore, it is much easier and more reliable to perform the procedure in a specialized medical complex, rather than at home.

Local bath with the immersion of only the feet and hands is taken as follows:

  1. The container in which the limbs will be immersed is filled with several liters (6-7) of water heated to 55 degrees.
  2. The emulsion vial is shaken thoroughly.
  3. Measured about 6-8 ml. solution (according to the instructions), which is added to the container and mixed with water.
  4. The patient performs water treatments for 10-20 minutes. Water temperature is constantly monitored.
  5. After the procedure, as in the previous case, it is recommended to stay 1.5-2 hours in a warm place.

At the end of the session, you do not need to wipe dry, you just need to wrap yourself in a large towel and wait in a warm place until the body or limbs are completely dry. There should be a break of 1 day between baths. The full course usually includes 15-25 procedures. Repeat this treatment should be 2-4 times a year.

SECURITY DURING THE MANIPULATION

Turpentine is a substance intended exclusively for external use. Therefore, it is extremely important to follow the dosage indicated on the bottle, as well as for instructions for preparation and time of bath. To prevent sensitive areas of the skin from reacting to strong irritation on turpentine, before taking a bath, lubricate the armpits, groin, perineum, and all areas of the skin with any damage (scratches, acne, etc.). It is impossible to go down with a head in a bath to avoid a hit of solution in the eyes, mouth, a nose.

REVIEWS ABOUT turpentine bath

The reviews about the procedure are mostly positive. In some cases, patients talk about unpleasant sensations in the process - but this is a normal reaction of the body to the irritant. With each new session, these feelings will be weaker, so there is nothing to fear.
